Specialty Classes
Pre-Free Skate is a class for students that have completed Basic 6 and are looking for more performance-based training.
Freestyle Class 1-4 is being offered on Thursdays at 5:45pm. You will need to join the Utah Figure Skating Club (UFSC) and your ice time is included for the whole season. You will receive other amenities for being a UFSC club member.

Freestyle Sessions
Freestyle sessions are 30 min. Figure Skaters are welcome to skate for as long as they would like but need to pay for multiple sessions. Figure Skaters cannot divide two sessions and pay just one session fee. Freestyle sessions are not included in our memberships.
Pricing:
- $3.00/session for Residents if paid 24 hrs ahead
- $3.50/session for Non-Residents if paid 24 hrs ahead
- $4.00/sessions if paid on day of freestyle
- Punch Passes will soon be available for purchase at
- $3/punch for residents and
- $3.50/punch for non-residents

Recreation Hockey

Sunday Stick & Puck is an open hockey session that allows players to work on any hockey skill they want in a relaxed atmosphere. Games are not allowed. Full equipment is required.
- Price: $7 per Player; Goalies Free

- Schedule: Sundays 11:30am-12:45pm year round
SUMMER ONLY

Snowplow Sam 1-3
Snowplow Sam classes are for students ages 3-5. Upon completion of Snowplow Sam, students should advance to Basic Skills classes. Helmet and now clothes are suggested.
Snowplow Sam 1
- Sit and stand up with skates on – off Ice
- Sit and stand up – on Ice
- March in place
- March forward (8–10 steps)
- March, then glide on two feet
- Dip in place
Snowplow Sam 2
- March followed by a long glide
- Dip while moving
- Backward walking, toes turned inward, shifting weight (4-6 steps)
- Backward wiggles (6 in a row)
- Forward swizzles (2-3 in a row)
- Beginning snowplow stop motion-in place or holding onto barrier
- Two-foot hop, in place (optional)
Snowplow Sam 3
- Forward skating (8–10 strides)
- Forward one-foot glide, two times skater’s height

- Forward swizzles (4–6 in a row)
- Backward swizzles (2–3 in a row)
- Moving forward snowplow stop (one or two feet)
- Curves
- Backward two-feet glide

Basic Skills 1-6
Basic Skills classes are for students ages 6 and older. If a student has never taken a lesson before and is 6 years or older, start with Basic 1. These classes will teach the fundamentals of skating.
After completion of Basic 6, students are encouraged to take private lessons from qualified figure skating coaches. Please feel free to contact our Ice Director Cory Haddock for more information. Students can also continue to available Specialty classes.
Basic 1

- Dip
- Forward Swizzles – 6-8 in a row
- Backward wiggles – 6-8 in a row
- Beginning snowplow stop on two feet or one foot.

Basic 2
- Scooter pushes-R and L
- Forward one-foot glides-R and L
- Backward two-foot glide-Glide the length of skater’s height
- Rocking Horse (one forward swizzle, one backward swizzle)- Repeat twice
- Backward swizzles- 6-8 in a row
- Two-foot turns from forward to backward in place- clockwise and counterclockwise
- Moving Snowplow stop
- Bonus Skill: Curves
Basic 3
- Beginning forward stroking showing correct use of blade
- Forward half swizzle pumps on a circle- 6-8 consecutive clockwise and counterclockwise
- Moving forward to backward two-foot turns on a circle- clockwise and counterclockwise
- Beginning backward one-foot glides-focus on balance
- Backward snowplow stop-R and L
- Forward slalom
- Bonus Skill: Forward pivots- clockwise and counterclockwise
Basic 4
- Forward outside edge on a circle- R and L

- Beginning one-foot spin- 2-4 revolutions, optional free leg position and entry

Specialty Classes

- Forward inside open mohawk from a standstill position (R to L and L to R)
- Backward crossovers to a backward outside edge glides (landing position), clockwise and counterclockwise
- Backward outside edge to a forward outside edge transition, clockwise and counterclockwise
- Two forward crossovers into a forward inside mohawk, step down and cross behind, step into one backward crossover and step to a forward inside edge, clockwise and counterclockwise
Spins:
- One-foot upright spin, optional entry and free-foot position (min. three revolutions)
Jumps:
- Mazurka (R and L)
- Waltz Jump
Bonus Skill:
- Backward inside pivots, clockwise and counterclockwise
